Cranfield University – Competency Framework for Learning Designers- (2007- current)The BILD, Cranfield University and UFI Learn Direct have embarked on a programme of study to investigate the provision of instructional and learning design courses across the UK and to recommend ways to develop a suitable qualification in conjunction with the relevant institutions.

SEVAQ - Self Evaluation and Quality in e-Learning (2006 - 2008)
SEVAQ is a project that aims to produce a self evaluation assessment tool that can be used by learning providers and users to obtain learner feedback from e-learning courses and programmes. The BILD is contributing to this project as a result of its work in the field of quality in learning, and in particular, experience with the BILD Quality Mark. Further information at www.sevaq.com

Market research into learning & development export opportunities (2005 - 2008)
Receiving support from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) to conduct market research into learning & development export opportunities. Sector market research has been conducted from the UK to investigate key areas of learning and development activity in Spain. Appropriate follow up is being considered.

10 Steps to Develop Learner Support - (2005)
Publication of best practice guide "10 Steps to Develop Learner Support - a guideline through the key issues". The guidelines aim to assist managers of learning schemes wishing to develop support to learners, providers of programmes and materials wishing to recommend support options to customers and course designers who need to ensure that programmes are adequately supported. It provides users with an overview of what is meant by learner support and the different options and includes a step by step approach with a checklist at each stage to help users develop a strategy for the review and development of learner support in the organisation. Development of the guide was supported by S2-NET, a project funded through the Leonardo da Vinci Programme with the support of the European Commission. Directorate-General for Education and Culture. The BILD Quality Mark - (1997 - 2005)
The BILD's Quality Mark is a scheme designed to improve the impact of learning interventions on organisational performance. It is designed for use across all sector of learning & development. It establishes a common set of quality indicators for all aspects of learning materials production, delivery and use to give confidence to purchasers and learners. The strength of the system is a framework adapted from the EFQM - Excellence Model. This provides a robust, objective and internationally recognised model of excellence. Recognition of achievement is through a combination of self-assessment and external verification. This approach provides a rigorous, consistent and cost-effective process.

Supporting Excellence in eLearning (SEEL) - (2002 - 2004)
Project partner in a consortium dedicated to the study of the impact of quality policies in eLearning, at local and regional levels, in order to measure their influence on local and regional development - employment, innovation, competence development, etc. - and to provide recommendations on quality assurance policies to the different stakeholders, and particularly to policy makers at regional level.

Social and Sector based eLearning enhanced by Professional Open and Distance Learning Networks (S2NET) - (2003 - 2005)
Project partner in a European project under the Leonardo da Vinci programme, which aims to develop innovation in methods of training and education through the use of technology-based learning and to contribute to the diffusion of good practice in the use of ICT in the field of vocational training.

UK Online Centres Pilot Project - (2003)
Project partner for the UK Online Centres Pilot Project established to evaluate the use of the Association's Quality Mark criteria as a means of supporting the development and strategic direction of UK online centre.
